A haiku a day keeps Byron sane. Sort of.

Have a Garbage Free Day

One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport. We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was really friendly. So I asked, ‘Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital. This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, ‘The Law of the Garbage Truck.’

He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they’ll dump it on you. Don’t take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on… Don’t take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets. The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day.

Life’s too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so…Love the people who treat you right. Pray for the ones who don’t. Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you take it!

Update: David J. Pollay is the author of The Law of the Garbage Truck™. You can read the original story on David’s blog, http://davidjpollay.typepad.com/david_j_pollay/lawofthegarbagetruck.html

It’s been a while since I’ve been able to write anything. I guess when you’ve got a lot to do, it means you have way more than you expect. I’m kind of running short on time and sleep (related) these days, so trying to work with that. A couple days off next week for Thanksgiving – really looking forward to it. I really hope that this year I’ll be able to take advantage of the extra time that I’ve been given and not squander it like in years past.

Got my h1n1 vaccination up my nose yesterday, it was kind of odd. Though, I guess it means that I will be h1n1 free! Which is a good thing.

Stressed about the future – long and short term. I don’t know what classes I want to take, because basically my selection now will dictate if I am able to graduate early. But, I guess all that is moot, since I need to find a job first. I’m still waiting to hear back from the company I interviewed with a few weeks ago. I am super excited for the job, and really like the company and the environment, but I won’t really be able to express it if I don’t get the position, so cross fingers for that.

Discovered in my calculations that I actually can’t pull my overall gpa up to 3.0 this quarter – I’d need something like a 4.16, which is not going to happen. Hopefully this won’t matter.

Lots of changes going on in my life right now – priorities are shifting, my attention is focused on different things, people are changing, and I don’t know what is going on. But, the quarter is winding down, and I gotta keep up with it. So, let’s just follow along and be happy about it, OK?

I know I promised a music post, but it takes more time than I have. Plan to write a bit about the new albums that are coming out/have come out by various artists (Leona Lewis, Lady Gaga, One Republic, Kris Allen, John Mayer, Justin Bieber). But if you want to get a head start hearing what I think about them, shoot me a message – I love to chat about music anytime.

Press on! And just for the multimedia content, here is a Baby Otter playing. It is super cute and makes me want to go to the Monterey Bay Aquarium again.
