A haiku a day keeps Byron sane. Sort of.

Day 20 : Odd habit of yours

Previously: Day 19 : Pic / video / etc of something inspiring

I guess there are a few – maybe not just odd habits but pet peeves as well.

When I shower, I towel off inside the tub. I don’t like standing on a damp mat, so I always towel off one foot, step outside, and then towel the other. It generally works out OK.

Every time I leave to go anywhere, I need to know where my keys, phone, and wallet are. I take these with me everywhere I go, and always stick my hands in both pockets and do a quick count.

I hate switching between the keyboard and the mouse. I also don’t like moving the mouse. It’s gotten to the point that I use a ton of keyboard shortcuts that other people don’t use/know, and I have mouse rocker gestures so I can browse the internet without having to move my hand to the back button. I also get extremely irritated when my Google Talk windows don’t want to close when i press escape, or I can’t tab through them. UGH. (PS: Space, Backspace, and Esc are my favorite keys on a keyboard)

When I’m barefoot, I walk on my toes when not on carpet. Well technically, the balls of my feet. I recently discovered that the vibrations of walking around were causing me to be unable to click on things in my browser. I also don’t especially love the feeling of tile or wood if it is not super clean.

Music is always playing in my room. This is probably the biggest one. My freshman and sophomore years, my music was playing even when I wasn’t in my room sometimes. Now, It’s odd to walk past my desk and not hear any sort of tunes coming from my speakers.

I can only write neatly with a pen. Math homework used to be so messy.

I think this may already be too many weird things that I’ve exposed to the world. What’s something weird that you do?

Day 15 : A photo of people you don’t know

Another picture of Spain! This is in the Madrid Barajas Airport. This is the new terminal (terminal 4), This terminal was opened in 2006, so I visited when it was only 3 years old. It’s got the new style of airport terminal, where its got a ridiculously high ceiling, terminal services in the center, and gates along the side, with really huge windows. Lots of natural light and no airport CNN or repeating security messages help. Other airports that have fallen in this category include HKIA in Hong Kong and Seoul Incheon in Korea. Both are beautiful airports with huge amounts of open space.

I can’t wait until the US starts to have this style of airport. Also, I can’t wait until my next international flight.

I also don’t know why this prompt is here. Photo of people you don’t know? But they’re the boring part!

Day 14 : Favorite Jewelry

Well, I own one piece of jewelry, which is this watch from Lucien Piccard. It was from my Uncle to my dad, but my dad wanted something slimmer, so I get to wear this nice guy here. It’s an automatic watch, which i actually think I appreciate a lot more than the digital or quartz watches that are more common now.

PS. Thanks everyone for a wonderful birthday. My big fat giraffe takes up a lot of space on my bed.
